Casa dell’Accademia

The Foundation of Casa dell’Accademia was created on April 6 th,1998.
His purpose is “ to create and manage a residential centre with economic and functional apartments for the Accademia’s students and to offer an opportunity of integration and aggregation”.
The Foundation is responsible of the apartments’ assignment basing his decision on the Protocollo’s criteria of priority.

Structure
The Casa dell’Accademia presents 2 reinforced concrete rectangular wings facing each other across the garden. In the walls there are Kerto niches in the walls.
The building is built on three floors with a total of 18 apartments, of about 90 sq.m, 3 of them for the disabled.
Each apartment has 4 single rooms with:

a bed and a work-table
2 bathrooms (2 people sharing 1 bathroom)
a nice big kitchen and a living room, shared by the 4 students.

Spaces
The apartments are completely furnished (bed, wardrobes, table, chairs, couch etc.) but without linen and kitchenware.
From the living room, through a glass-door, you can go out on a big balcony over viewing the garden.

Services
Laundry, cellar and bicycles’ parking, are located on the ground floor.
A lift for disabled people gives an easy access to their apartments.
The building is provided with an external parking lot: 10 parking places can be rented, 6 are for guests.

Fees
Monthly rental fee for 10 months (see application form)
It will be possible to rent an apartment from the beginning of the each academic year, but the Casa dell’Accademia can be visited on demand during the summer.

Location
The residential centre is situated in Mendrisio, Via Agostino Maspoli, in a quiet area not far away from the centre village and at 10 minutes walk from the Accademia. It can easily be reached by bus and from the main train station.
