Philosophy and Architecture

  • Lecturer
    • Matteo Vegetti

The course, organized by topics and problems, addresses fundamental issues of particular importance for future architects, such as the role of plasticity for the existence of humanity, the relation with the environment and pre-existences, the adventures of form between the promise of recognition and estrangement. Following a line drawn between past and future, the course will focus on the difficult status of architecture, which has affinities with the visual arts and yet is irreducible to them, tensed between the self and the other, between autonomy and dependence, between aesthetics and ethics, between technical exploit and political action.

The course includes practical exercises seeking to combine doing and thinking, to be set during the semester and counting towards the final assessment.
