Building an Empire: Roman Architecture

  • Lecturer
    • Vladimir Ivanovici

The course discusses the main typologies of Roman structures (spectacle architecture, funerary architecture, cultic architecture, etc.) in their cultural and historical context. Along with the role played by architecture in Rome’s civilising mission, which represents the main concern of the course, the anthropological dimension of ancient Roman architecture will be explored.
