Urban Strategies: Projects and Effects
- Antonio Calafati
Urban transformation projects – both large and small – have a formal-spatial dimension that is at the core of architects’ learning process. Yet urban transformation projects have social (and economic) effects that justify their implementation and depend on the processes they activate. Their analysis requires a specific methodology, which should make it possible to highlight the interaction in space and time with the “social city”. By focusing on some urban transformation projects – currently under way or realized – the course will introduce the students to the methodologies of the social assessment of projects and to a reflection on the urban transformation strategies they assume.
Paper and written final exam.
