Construction Archetypes and Materials of Pre-Industrial Architecture

  • Lecturer
    • Carlo Dusi

The course seeks to extend the students’ knowledge of traditional construction systems: building elements and materials, their development and permanence and their relation to the architectural typology and the project. The purpose is to give them the tools for an understanding of historical architecture that complements morphological and stylistic factors; a complex of knowledge that is the basis for an aware approach to the reuse project and an understanding useful in dealing with the themes of sustainable development. The course will take the form of lectures and seminars for studies in depth of the basic construction systems by which architecture was built until the changes introduced to the building site in the middle of last century.
