Associated researchers 2012/2013
From time to time
the Institute of History of the Alps LabiSAlp grants a limited number of historians
the status of Associated Researchers for a period of two years. The status
enables them to refer to certain services offered by LabiSAlp.
The aim is to enable a group of researchers who work within the
ambit of History of the Alps to present and discuss their own research within the framework of four
seminars which take place at the seat of the Institute of History of the Alps in Mendrisio. Invited
Professors will take part in the seminars; they will lead the discussions and make comments on the reports
and texts.
At the end of the two-year cycle the Associated
Researchers LabiSAlp are required to deliver a scientific article on their own project. The article
will be published online in the collection of working papers “Percorsi di ricerca”. Meetings:
June 2010 / December 2010 / June 2011 / December 2011
Criteria
/ Terms and conditions To become an AR one must hold an academic
degree in Human and Social Sciences and be conducting research in the broadly defined field of Alpine
history. The status is granted after application has been made and is valid for two years. The application
can be renewed for three consecutive two-year periods and made again, after an interval. The ARs
must take an active part in LabiSAlp's two-year programme.
Benefits The
position grants the appointee the right to the title of LabiSAlp Associated Researcher.
The Institute helps its ARs by facilitating academic contacts, and provides guidance
on application procedures for fellowship grants. Depending on availability, the AR
may make use of office space at the Institute and take advantage of its facilities. The Institute may
cover research expenses up to an annual amount fixed at the beginning of the two-year cycle (active
participation in congresses, expenses incurred during research on archives). This sum may be exceeded
for tasks undertaken at the direct request of the Institute. The AR group is organised without any particular
administrative procedures, the accent being placed on personal research activities within a framework
that should be stimulating and interactive.
