Devices, methods and achievements

The course introduces students to the theme of lighting in the architectural project. While architects have always controlled the use of natural light, only in the last century, with the appearance of electric light, did artificial lighting became part of the design process, leading to changes in architecture and gradually becoming a primary factor in the economic, commercial and social development of contemporary societies. The purpose of the course is to provide the basic, theoretical, technical and material tools to analyse the use of artificial light in the built heritage, in order to develop the skills needed to control it both in intervention on the existing and in new architectural works.
