  • Lecturer
    • Andrea Frangi

Timber structures are compositions of a product of nature in accordance with the rules of equilibrium. The use of timber has been favoured by the ready availability of timber and its ease of working. While in the past wood was used as it is present in nature, nowadays it is worked and made homogeneous to enhance its installation. Interest in timber constructions is closely bound up with its ecological appearance and its properties in the field of the physics of construction. After studying the physical properties and mechanisms of wood, the analysis of wooden structures will follow the development of the processes of working wood and its use in constructions: structures in solid wood and the connection of individual elements, the technique of laminated wood and structures with large spans.
