Steel, viewed in terms of its mechanical properties, is the noblest building material. Despite the high costs of manufacturing and producing steel, its frugal use and appropriate employment make for the installation of economically advantageous structures. In describing the construction of large spans, great transparency and lightness, and continuing the study of the most favourable static forms begun in previous years, the course will focus on the problems involved in the transfer of forces, the details of construction of the connections and on the phenomena of instability.
Paper and oral final exam.
