The conference aims to explore the spatial revolution triggered by aviation in the 20th century, analyzing the aesthetic and political implications of aerial vision. It will examine aerial technologies, from airplanes to satellites and drones and how these have transformed urban planning, architecture, and land management, modifying our perception of the world.Aerial technologies have become crucial tools for controlling and manipulating space. In military contexts, drones and satellite imagery have changed the dynamics of warfare and security, while in civilian life, satellites reshape spatial orientation. The discussion will focus on how these images influence political action, create new urban subjects, and shape political and epistemic imaginaries, developing a phenomenology of the aerial forms of contemporary power.
