In the autumn semester 2021 the studio will focus on the project for a Shul, the Yiddish word for Synagogue, which derives from the German word for school, Schule. The building should serve as home for community use, as a place for ritual practice and religious study. Students are invited to design a new building on one of a number of sites in Zurich to serve the needs of the city’s Liberal Jewish Community.
In the spring semester 2022 the studio’s focus will be a cultural centre for the Italian city of Florence. As a building type, this should serve as a point of orientation for visitors to the city, host temporary exhibitions and accommodate other social functions. 
The project will explore the nature of public buildings as the overall theme under investigation for this academic year.
