Academy of Architecture: the diploma projects are online

The new web page documents and makes available the Diploma projects developed at USI Academy of Architecture, Mendrisio. It was initiated as a response to the Covid-19 crisis, the lockdown of the school in 2020 during the Diploma and the resulting need for online documentation and exhibition. It currently hosts the 141 projects developed for the 2020 Diploma "Chiasso Ponte Chiasso. Integrazione", headed by Professor Muck Petzet, who also supervised the web project.

The new website, promoted by Università della Svizzera italiana and the Academy of Architecture, is a collection of the Diploma projects of the Academy students.

The initiative was initiated as a response to the Covid-19 crisis and the resulting suspension of in-person teaching during the 2020 Diploma, which made it necessary and indispensable to document and showcase online the works and projects.

Distance learning was also an opportunity to develop a broader and more user-friendly archive of all the sites and cities covered by the Diploma. Each year an alternating Diploma director proposes a location and a topic for the Diploma. An integrated map allows to search each site and location according to typologies and topics.

Currently, the web page showcases, extensively with drawings, images, texts and videos, the 141 projects developed for the 2020 Diploma, Chiasso Ponte Chiasso. Integrazione," directed by Professor Muck Petzet.

The site will soon be enriched with a selection of past and future Diplomas projects dedicated each year to a different city or region.
